The Heart

We love telling the extraordinary stories of regular people’s lives. We got our start in creating wedding films in 2012 and have expanded beyond weddings – while continuing to refine the art of capturing couples saying “I do”.

We always want to be there for you throughout your life when you have an important event or want to create a time capsule of where your family’s life is right now. Life goes by so fast and we don’t want you to look back and wish you had beautifully documented videos telling your story – but it’s too late.

Focused Story Films is one of Kansas City’s top wedding videography companies. We focus on creating cinematic wedding films that allow our clients to remember their day in beautifully shot and edited videos that highlight the most important pieces of their day. Ultimately we are artists who love telling beautiful stories – and there are few stories more beautiful than that of a wedding. We believe that you should enjoy your wedding day and feel comfortable and relaxed around your video team. As we’ve shot dozens of weddings around Kansas City and the greater midwest we’ve honed our craft to make sure that your wedding video is produced without a hitch!

Here’s what they’re saying about us.

  • Brian at Focused Story Films was great to work with! He met with us to see how we wanted our wedding film to look. We didn’t want a traditional cheesey wedding film, we wanted more of a documentary style. Brian was there from 2:00 PM through 9:30 PM to capture all the special moments of our wedding from getting ready, to the ceremony, the cocktail hour and reception. We really love the film! We  cried watching it.

  • We decided a month before my daughter’s wedding (November 4, 2016), that we wanted to have a video of the wedding. We asked our venue owner if she had anyone she would recommend. She said that she just worked with Brian at Focused Story Films for a commercial video for her venue. As the mother of the bride, I went online to research this company as well as others. I emailed Brian to see if the date was even available due to a month notice…and he quickly replied the date was available. We met with Brian at a local coffee spot in Lees Summit to go over ideas and what moments my daughter and fiancé wanted to make sure were in the video. We just received the final video and it is so precious. Brian included everything that my daughter and her husband wanted in the video. Everyone that has viewed the video online loves it and we will cherish it forever. I would highly recommend Brian for any event or commercial needs. His attention to detail, his editing, and the end product was beyond 5 star. Thank you Brian for making my daughter’s dream of her perfect wedding video a reality.

  • I first met Brian when we shot a wedding together a few years back. I saw right away how talented he was just by working with him. When I got engaged I went straight to Focused Story Films no questions asked! The way he captures moments without you even saying “I want this or that” is incredible and a true talent. Not to mention he is just a spectacular friend and person and he does all he can to make your day special and perfect with no extra stress added what so ever. If you’re looking for a video that will bring much much joy to you and many others and capture all of the wonderful emotions you want to remember from your special day you are in the right spot. I honestly don’t even have enough words to express how amazing my experience with Brian was!

  • Can I give 10stars?!! ⭐️ ⭐️ People thought I was crazy when I told them I wanted my birth recorded, even my significant other. I waited so long for a child that I knew I needed to make sure I found someone who could document this special moment for me. I had searched for local birth videographers in this area (Kansas City Metro), but couldn’t find any. I stumbled across Brian’s work and found he had experience with several different types of videography, just not birth. Afterwatching some of what he did, I knew instantly I wanted to work with him. I sent him a message on fb and he was open to the idea. He was great at communication leading up to meeting at the hospital. It was nice not to worry about a thing with him. I had booked him at least a month ahead and he would check in with me from time to time to make sure I was ok and if we were on track for my due date. I ended up having her earlier and he was there within the hour of me having her. He allowed enough time to set everything up in the delivery room and was ready for when it was “go” time. His professionalism and undeniable talent for seeing beyond the moment is unparalleled. You captured moments I forgot happened and ones that I didn’t know happened at all. You captured the love between Matt and I, and the love that we created together. You were able to show every priceless detail of one of the most incredible moments of our lives. What a precious gift that I’ll be able to show Paisley as she grows. I am absolutely honored and thankful to be the first birth that Focused Story Films did and I highly recommend using them for any special occasion that you may have. I will without a doubt use them in the future!
